Producing a Podcast.
To help Nielsen reach new audiences, I’ve developed, produced and promoted The Database podcast, along with my co-host. Episodes explore the data behind the biggest trends affecting the media and consumer packaged goods industries. Three seasons of the show are currently available, with planning for the fourth season underway.
Development.
In 2014, I fell in love with podcasts thanks to the hit series Serial and recognized the unique opportunity audio formats could offer brands. I researched and proposed a podcast showcasing Nielsen data and insights to promote key business messaging and thought leaders. Unfortunately, I was ahead of the times, and leadership responded with “What’s a podcast?” I didn’t give up on my idea, however. And in 2016, I successfully resurfaced my proposal and launched the first season of The Database.
Production.
Along with my co-host, I am involved in every aspect of production, from sourcing interviewees, drafting questions, scheduling recordings, recording audio, editing audio and coordinating with a sound engineer for final production elements (transitions, music, etc.).
Promotion.
Once each episode is complete, I publish it across a variety of podcast platforms (including Apple Podcasts, Google Play, Stitcher and Spotify), as well as the company website. I then promote the episode on social media and in the company’s weekly newsletter.
