Hello.
My name is Katharine Olsen, though I usually go by Katie. By day, I’m a digital marketer with experience creating strategies and campaigns that successfully build brands and generate leads. I started my career writing long- and short-form content. I’ve use my understanding of storytelling to create digital experiences across channels that promote brand messaging while keeping the audience top of mind.
By night (and on weekends), I like to draw, listen to podcasts and wander around museums for hours. Sometimes I convince myself to practice yoga or go for a run, but I’m often tempted by a good book and end up reading with my cat instead.
How Can I Help?
I love crafting marketing strategies that put the audience front and center. Thanks to my background writing and editing long-form content (think articles, reports, commentaries, press releases, product pages, etc.), I understand the art of storytelling and tailoring experiences to different platforms. I’m particularly interested in the role the website plays as part of a content marketing campaign. I enjoy thinking through how the user journey comes to life through a website’s architecture and taxonomy, as well as microcopy, like meta descriptions, call to actions (CTAs), social posts, newsletter blurbs, event app alerts and more.
Work Experience.
I started my career at Standard & Poor’s copyediting press releases about structured finance bonds. I then took my experience writing about data to Nielsen where I turn consumer habits into compelling stories and marketing campaigns. For the last few years, I’ve focused on driving the content strategy across digital channels. Want to know more? Check out my LinkedIn profile.
Education.
I love history. It’s fascinating to uncover what people did in the past (and why)—it’s a lot like understanding user experience in that way. For four years in college, I explored a small slice of history while honing my writing and critical analysis skills.
